365+1 Days In Solitary; Part I

From the back cover;

"You are in a small, suffocating box. You are confused. You are searching for a way out but there is none. You can hear people around you, outside your box. You scream for help. They hear you but no one will ever help you. You are alone in this place. You are in solitary confinement.

Welcome to administrative segregation, or solitary confinement, hell on earth. You will experience pain, injustice, loneliness, rage, hopelessness. Follow the narrators, men living in conditions of total isolation for years, decades, and let them whisper their dark, haunting stories to you…"

Any time given, more than 80,000 Americans are held in solitary confinement. They are forced to spend from 22 to 23 hours all alone, in a cell not much bigger than an average parking space. The only time they are allowed to be out they are put in a slightly bigger outdoor cell where they are again all alone. And these can go on for months, years, decades...

How does it feel like been segregated for prolonged periods? How does isolation affect the behavior, mental health, and strength of the individuals?

Here, you will explore the dark side of human nature, the games the brain plays after weeks of social isolation, the injustice and abuse that take place behind bars. Here, you will read the stories of people that suffer, but no one pays any attention. Are you brave enough to read it?

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to organizations that fight solitary confinement and wrongful convictions.
